Odesa, Ukraine — The war left Maxim, a frontline soldier, with devastating injuries after a fall from a building under Russian attack. The accident paralyzed his legs and left him with only limited movement in his arms. For the past year, he has been confined to a hospital bed in Odesa, facing the daily challenges of life-altering disability.
Yet, even in his suffering, God’s grace reached him. Each week, members of Hope for People Church visited Maxim’s hospital ward. They came with words of encouragement, small acts of kindness, and the hope of the gospel. As they prayed with him and faithfully shared Christ’s love, Maxim’s heart opened to the message of salvation.
In time, Maxim placed his faith in Jesus Christ. Though his body remains broken, his spirit has been made whole. Today, members of the church bring him in his wheelchair to Sunday services, where he joins the congregation with radiant joy. His smile and testimony of faith have become a source of encouragement to many.
Maxim’s journey is a living reminder of how God can use even the darkest tragedies to shine the light of His glory. Through the faithful dedication of ordinary believers, lives are being transformed, hope is being restored, and the gospel is bearing fruit amid the devastation of war.
This is just one story among many — a testimony to the power of Christ to bring everlasting hope where despair once reigned.
